Our exchange season has begun with the return visit to St Jorioz on Lake Annecy by 23 students, two of whom were returning for a second exchange visit. The hot weather broke the day the group arrived so it was a moody view of Lake Annecy which greeted them, with low clouds in the Alpine valleys. The views were spectacular.
The students spent a week living with French families and experiencing life in Haute Savoie. They visited the beautiful city of Lyon on the Friday, walked around the old town of Annecy and did a boat trip on Lake Annecy on Monday, and drove up to the mountains to Chamonix on the last full day.
They also accompanied their partners to lessons and ate in the school canteen, all of which gave them a different view of school life and allowed them to compare and contrast. Their French also improved significantly over the week spent in a French-speaking environment.
The group thoroughly enjoyed their visit. A big thank you to Mrs Kincaid who set up the exchange two years ago and does all the organisation and planning as well as spending time with the group in France. Thanks too, to the staff who accompanied the group – Mrs Flahive, Mr Swann and Ms Lyons.
Watch out for the letters for the next French ex-change and get involved in this amazing opportunity to live French life from the inside and not as a tourist.
