Last week a number of our talented musicians took part in the St. Albans Young Musician Competition 2016. This was held in St. Albans Cathedral with over 30 groups competing.

Robert Gurney (Year 13) was a finalist in the Secondary Vocal category. Show Choir were joint winners of the Secondary Vocal Ensemble category, Daniel Wright (Year 10) and Henry Nurse (Year 7) won the Secondary Vocal category and Charlie Woodhouse (Year 10) won Secondary Strings.

The standard of the competition was, as always, extremely high with a large number of competition entries so this is a real achievement for our students and the school.

Parts of the St Albans Young Musician Competition were played out on BBC 3 Counties Radio last week and they chose to feature two of our students (Dan Wright and Henry Nurse) These were the only two performances played from any of the secondary categories so I'm really pleased for them. They played their performances as well as a short interview with them both.  If you would like to hear the 3CR programme on this it can be listened to here

Official photographs of the event were also taken and can be viewed at the following link

Well done to everyone and congratulations!
