Over the past three weeks, since his return from space, Tim Peake has been acclimatising himself to conditions on Earth. Three of our students were invited to join nine others in Cologne at the European Space Centre to be the first to meet him. He was there recovering from his 6 months in space and being checked by various doctors to make sure everything was fine. The students managed to speak with Tim for about half an hour and learnt much about how to send someone into space and then bring them back down again.

Last week, two groups of our students attended the Farnborough Air Show. On Friday, over 50 went along to the futures fair and at 10.50, managed to see Tim when he joined the audience to give a speech. Some even managed to get his autograph.

Then on Saturday, four year 10 students attended the air show to man the satellite station, at the invitation of AMSAT UK. You guessed it, Tim turned up again and they had a great time talking with him and, also getting his autograph.

As if this was not enough, on Friday Jessica, in year 10 received a personal invitation from the Prime Minister to attend a special reception at 10 Downing Street to greet Tim Peake. She spent over two hours meeting various people including Tim and the new Prime Minister, Rt Hon Theresa May MP. Jessica rose to the challenge and was an outstanding ambassador for all young people and the school. Not content with meeting one astronaut, she also spoke to Helen Sharman and Italian astronaut, Samantha Cristoforetti. Quite a night,

This goes to show what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.
