Director of Alban Federation – ITT provider for the Alban Teaching School Hub

This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a senior leadership position leading the Initial Teacher Training provision for the Alban Federation, the ITT provider for the Alban Teaching School Hub, based at Sandringham School, St. Albans.

The Alban Federation is an Awarding Body for Initial Teacher Training and delivers high-quality training to around 50 candidates each year, across both secondary and primary phases. Graded Good by Ofsted in June 2021, we pride ourselves on training adults to become amazing teachers who can then experience an outstanding career in education.  The Federation has been successful in gaining accreditation for delivery of the new ITT reforms for September 2024 and the preparation and design of this new curriculum will be an exciting and key aspect for the first year in post.

The person appointed will work closely with the ITT administrator, with the Primary Lead and Lead Mentor in addition to a team of professional mentors across each of our provider schools. The role of the director will be to provide strategic direction as well as leadership of activities throughout the year, to ensure that the trainees receive the highest-quality training possible and at the end of the year gain QTS. The director of the federation will work closely with senior staff at the provider schools, including the headteachers, and also develop close links with the training arm of the DfE.

We are looking to appoint someone who loves teaching and education, has great personal qualities to help motivate and inspire the next generation of teachers and who can operate at a strategic level working with headteachers and other senior leaders to deliver outstanding outcomes. You will be based at Sandringham School as part of the Alban Teaching School Hub team.
