Non-Uniform Day: Friday 14th May 2021
Given the unprecedented nature of the experiences the world has faced over the last eighteen months, we feel compelled to come together as a community to raise money for global COVID appeals. Whilst the United Kingdom may be facing the easing of restrictions and the return to some forms of normality, this is not the case for other parts of the world.
We write to you to ask for your support in two appeals:
- Urgent Appeal: India COVID emergency
Friday 14th May, 2021
We will be asking students to wear Non-School Uniform and ask that you support the cause by donating money using the ParentPay system. This money will contribute to the urgent care needed in India at present, in order to slow the spread of the virus and support those countries being affected as a result of the outbreak in India at present.
Should you wish to understand the nature of the appeal more or donate further, please access the link: https://londonmandir.baps.org/support-us/
- Student Fundraising: Supporting the Gambia
Before July. Date TBC.
A group of our Year 12 students, have put together a proposal to raise money for COVID equipment to support The Gambia in their fight against the pandemic. They have currently raised nearly £1000 and wish to have a Non-School Uniform Day to increase funding, to enable them to better support the cause. They have chosen The Gambia due to the link our school community has with Farafenni Senior Secondary High School. As with the India appeal, we will ask our students to wear Non-School Uniform and for donations to be made through the ParentPay system.
We hope that you can support us in our continuous support of global citizenship and responsibility; we recognise the last minute nature of the first appeal, but we feel bound to act to offer our support to a country in such dire need.
Please note that as previously, we ask that students who have PE or sporting activities on the days nominated for Non-School Uniform to bring their PE kit; we have made provisions for changing facilities to be cleaned during the day in line with COVID protocol, to enable students to change and therefore access their curriculum to the best of their ability.
We thank you in advance for any support you might be able to give. We are proud to be a community that acts and leads with integrity, doing the right thing in supporting countries all over the world in unprecedented and challenging times: together, we are strong.
