Sandringham awarded Artsmark Platinum

We heard last week that our assessment for the highest award available in the arts world; Artsmark Platinum has been successful which means we are in truly World Class company. School funding

I am sure you are aware that there is considerable national debate about school funding.  Despite the rhetoric from the DfE over protecting schools' budgets, the reality is clear that the flat cash settlements over recent years and into the future are resulting in a significant REAL TERMS CUT to education funding in England. The latest predictions are a shortfall of between 8 - 13% by 2020.  > view full article

High Altitude Balloon Launch reaches near space

At 10:34am on the 16th March 2017, Sandringham successfully launched a High Altitude Balloon into near-space. This was the culmination of over 6 months of work by over 60 students split into teams that dealt with the programming, fabrication of the payload, tracking and radio operation. Permission was sought from the Civil Aviation Authority and we nervously kept an eye on atmospheric conditions and wind direction to determine a launch time and date. > view full article

British Science Week #sandBSW2017

  British Science Week runs from the 10th to 17th March 2017. Sandringham is putting on a host of events based around the theme 'Gravity'.  These include rollercoaster workshops from the Engineering Development Trust, a lecture from Airbus Defence and Space, building a rollercoaster from K'Nex inside I block and many lesson-based activities in STEM subjects. > view full article

World Class Schools Awards Ceremony

Now in its third year, a further tranche of schools were awarded the prestigious World Class Quality Mark in a special ceremony at Queen Mary University of London last week. The total number of schools now accredited is 44, and these are many of the highest performing non-selective state schools in England.
